Preparing Your Wings
I had always been someone who loves spice, so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered the magic of combining honey, old bay seasoning, and chicken wings. The key to achieving that much-coveted golden brown crispiness starts way before the wings hit the frying oil or baking sheet. First, make sure your party wings are as dry as a paper towel-lined plate can get them. Moisture is the enemy of crisp.
Next, gather your large bowl, and let's talk seasoning. For that old bay wings recipe to truly pop, mix your old bay seasoning, black pepper, garlic powder, and if you're feeling bold, a dash of cayenne pepper in that bowl. Toss your wings in this blend, ensuring each wing is fully coated. This step promises a lot of flavor locked in every bite.
Cooking to Perfection: Frying, Baking, or Air-Frying
At my kitchen counter, I pondered the best way to cook these wings perfectly, armed with honey Old Bay seasoning. Frying them would give that irresistible golden brown crispness, I thought, setting the oil to heat up to 350°F. In batches, my wings would dive in, cooking until they reached that perfect internal temperature of 165°F after 6-8 minutes. Safety was my mantra, ensuring each wing was cooked in a single layer for even crispness. Yet, not everyone loves to fry. Baking at 425°F or air-frying at 400°F offered a healthier alternative, promising wings just as crispy thanks to a secret weapon: a touch more baking powder. Whichever method you choose, remember, achieving that ideal golden brown and deliciously crispy texture is your aim. Let's not forget, arranging them in a single layer ensures every wing is equally mesmerizing.
The Final Touch: Honey Old Bay Sauce
I found the secret that elevates these wings to legendary status. Crafting the Honey Old Bay sauce required a blend of honey, Old Bay Seasoning, Frank's Red Hot sauce, and lemon juice. I let these ingredients mingle over medium heat, simmering to perfection.Once they achieved a golden brown and mouthwateringly crispy texture, we bathed the wings in this sauce, enveloping each one in a glaze that combines spice and sweetness in a delightful dance. For those seeking to enhance this delight, nothing complements like a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing, adding a creamy texture that contrasts wonderfully.
Serving & Enjoying Your Masterpiece
I had wrapped up cooking, the crispy honey old bay chicken wings golden brown and radiating a tempting aroma. It dawned on me, the presentation could elevate this Maryland girl’s kitchen creation. Dips were a must; ranch dressing and blue cheese sat in small dishes, their creamy textures ready to complement the wings. For the game day feast, I laid them out in a single layer on a sheet pan, ensuring each honey old bay wing was visible, inviting friends and family to dive in. Garnishes were not forgotten. Celery sticks and a sprinkle of parsley added a pop of color and freshness, balancing the rich, spicy flavors.
In midst of the excitement, a thought struck me. Why keep this joy to myself? I decided to nudge others to explore their culinary side. “Share your twist on these old bay wings,” I urged. “Let your taste buds lead the way, and let us all in on your mouthwatering journey.” If you're a fan of wings try my Baked Lemon Pepper Wings!

These look amazing, I can't wait to make them and I don't want to mess them up. I'm using an air fryer so I should toss them in the oil and all the seasonings and a tablespoon of baking powder since you said no flour right?

Hey there!Yes that will be totally fine! Depending on the size of your air fryer I would just say be careful not to over crowd 🙂
