A little back story on me:
Hey everyone! If you don’t already know me, I am Krystel of Krystel’s Cooking! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always had a passion for cooking and baking! When I say little I am talking about at 6 years old I asked Santa for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas! Fast forward a little bit now to when I was in Junior high, I took home economics classes and really got to learn how to correctly cook and bake. I absolutely loved it! I continued to take Home Ec every year all the up until I graduated from high school.
I continued to cook and bake at home and decided to enter the LA County Fair and won 1st place for my Chocoflan cake in 2015! This really fueled my passion to cook and bake even more! I still needed to pay my bills however so I went on to college where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in 2018 from Cal Poly Pomona in Business Administration. I felt unfulfilled in the corporate world and decided to take a chance and went back to school for Culinary and Pastry Arts and graduated from Cypress College in 2021 with my degrees in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, and Restaurant and Beverage Management. I also obtained a certification in Special Events. My health took a turn unfortunately and I could no longer work in a commercial kitchen due to Lupus and Pulmonary Fibrosis. This was heartbreaking but over time I was at least able to cook at home for my family.
I think like most of us in this day and age when it came to looking for something good to make I turned to online recipes. I found that although a lot of them looked really appealing they ended up being just a lot of great professional photos. They never really lived up to the hype when the time came to actually eat the food.
I have to say this made me sad, especially as someone who loves to cook and eat! For me to take that much time and effort to make something that still left both me and my family disappointed was horrible! I knew then I wanted something better so I was on a mission and was set out to change that.
As much as I love a pretty picture of food I love to taste a delicious meal more! I set out to create both! I wanted to show people that you can create great quality homemade dishes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also delicious, budget friendly, and are perfect family portioned! I use simple terms, and ingredients that most of us all have in our pantries to make some truly amazing dishes.
Like most food bloggers who are just starting out I would post my new creations on my personal Facebook and Instagram pages to test the waters as to if folks would really take interest in what it was I was dishing out (catch that pun?!). After doing this for a few years I decided to take the dive into creating my own website and just like that in the Summer of 2023 Krystel’s Cooking was born!
I felt very confident in my business skills along with my formal education in the culinary field that I would be able to bring my dream of becoming a full time food blogger to life. I love cooking as I said earlier but more than that I love seeing other people enjoying my food! Being unable to cook commercially left a void in my life for a time but by creating Krystel’s Cooking I’ve been able to fill it by sharing all of my recipes, tip and tricks to creating easy fun dishes for the whole world to enjoy without breaking the bank or breaking a sweat!
All of my recipes have been tested time and time again to ensure you’re going to love them as much as me and my family do! The multitude of positive comments, shares amongst my social media accounts and my site are the proof in the pudding! It is my sincere desire to become your new go to for great new recipes and inspiration to cook at home more often!
Thank you so much for taking the time to not only visit my site but to take the time to get to know a little more about me and why I love doing what I do!
Happy Cooking!
Love,
Krystel

Recipe FAQs
How do I find a recipe?
In the search bar at the top of the page in the right hand corner you can type in a word such as "chicken" and all the recipes with chicken that I have will pop right up!
How do I adjust the serving size?
My recipe cards have an easy-to-use "Serving Size" section that allows you to adjust the ingredient quantities.
Can I substitute ingredients?
Absolutely! There are so many ways to switch up my recipes that you can try! I actually plan to add a substitution sheet for things such as if you don't have buttermilk and a recipe calls for it what you can use instead that is common in most people's kitchens!
How does payment work?
My recipes are absolutely free to use! There is no need for payments! I just enjoy sharing good cooking with the world!
