Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13” metal pan with foil and generously coat it with cooking spray.
Using a stand or hand mixer, blend butter and brown sugar until crumbly. Incorporate eggs and vanilla until smooth. Add salt, baking powder, then flour. Gently mix in M&Ms and sprinkles.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Since the dough is moist, spray your hands with cooking spray to smooth it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining mix-ins on top.
Bake for approximately 22-25 minutes until they begin to turn golden. It's advisable to slightly under-bake them, as they will continue to set as they cool. Slice into bars.
Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for a month.
Notes:
Ensure accurate measurement of flour and sugar.
Store in an airtight container for a week, suitable for shipping.
"Jimmies" refer to long rod-type sprinkles, not the small round balls.
Some may find these bars appearing "raw" after cooking.
They will achieve a golden brown color around the edges and on top, lose glossiness, and have a slightly underdone center when removed from the oven. This intentional fudgy appearance ensures a rich and soft texture. The bars should not remain liquid in the center after cooling, resembling the images.
Consider the type of pan used; a metal 9x13-inch pan is recommended for even heat distribution. Avoid using a glass pan, as it may lead to uneven baking.
Customize with any color M&Ms and sprinkles for different holidays.
