Mall-Style Teriyaki Chicken

Ingredients
 

  • 2 lbs of trimmed, boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 packet of dry Italian dressing mix
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 6 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of white wine vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon of red chili flakes, optional
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of honey

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken, olive oil, and Italian dressing mix.
  • Place the chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Once the chicken is cooked and has cooled down, cut it into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sesame oil and minced garlic. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add all remaining ingredients to the saucepan: soy sauce, white wine vinegar, ground ginger, red chili flakes (if using), brown sugar, and honey.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 minutes. The sauce will thicken.
  • Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and continue cooking until the chicken is heated through.
  • Serve the Mall-Style Teriyaki Chicken over white rice and your choice of steamed vegetables.
