5 from 1 review

Hawaiian Beef Skewers

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. New York Steak cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 Pineapple cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 Red Bell Peppers cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 Large Sweet Onion cut into 1 inch pieces
  • cup Soy Sauce
  • ¼ cup Brown Sugar
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon Rice Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Seeds
  • garnish
  • 2 tablespoon Chopped Green Onions garnish

Instructions

  • - Begin by cutting the steak into 1-inch cubes and placing them in a large storage bag or bowl.
  • - In a separate small bowl, combine minced garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and sesame oil. Set aside about a third of this marinade in the fridge for later basting.
  • - Pour the remaining marinade over the steak cubes, toss to coat thoroughly, then cover and refrigerate the steak to marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • - Cut the pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion into 1-inch pieces. Thread the kabobs, alternating with 3 pieces of steak, 2 pieces of pineapple, red bell pepper, and onion on each skewer.
  • - Take out the reserved marinade from the fridge and whisk in ketchup and honey.
  • - Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  • - Place the skewers on the hot grill, turning every 2-3 minutes to cook all sides evenly for about 15 minutes in total. During the final turns, brush the skewers with the sauce.
  • - Once cooked, the skewers should display appealing char marks, and the meat should be tender (reaching about 145-150 degrees Fahrenheit for a medium cook). Extend the cooking time for a more well-done result if desired.
  • - Serve the skewers with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped green onions, alongside your preferred side dishes. Enjoy!
