French Toast Bake with Streusel

Ingredients
 

  • STREUSEL TOPPING:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoon butter , cold and diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • FRENCH TOAST:
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 can flaky cinnamon rolls
  • 1 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 8x8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set it aside.
  • Prepare the Streusel Topping:
  • - In a small bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • - Gently pinch the butter into the mixture with your fingers until small clumps, no larger than the size of a pea, are formed. The texture should resemble coarse wet sand with clumps.
  • Prepare the French Toast:
  • - In a large bowl, whisk eggs, heavy whipping cream, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  • - Slice each cinnamon roll from the can into eighths and arrange them in the prepared baking dish.
  • - Pour the egg mixture generously over the cinnamon roll pieces, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  • - Sprinkle the streusel over the top.
  • - Bake uncovered for 20-35 minutes or until the top is lightly browned.
  • - Drizzle the cinnamon roll icing over the French toast bake and savor the deliciousness!
