Using a slow cooker sprinkle salt and pepper on the roast.
Combine chili powder, garlic, cumin, minced onion, beef broth, and salsa.
Place everything in the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours, or until the meat is tender and can be easily shredded.
Transfer the roast to a plate and shred the meat, removing any large chunks of fat. Put the shredded meat back into the slow cooker to keep warm.
